GREENVILLE, S.C. (CNN) – Clown sightings in a South Carolina neighborhood have been the talk of Fleetwood Manor Apartments, and it has most parents on high alert.

Donna Arnold called deputies after her son and some other people in the complex say they saw the clowns behind a basketball court.

“I thought my child was seeing things, and then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say ‘did you see the clown in the woods?’

“They finally sent people out here to check, they found some evidence.”

One woman said these kids aren’t seeing things. She told CNN affiliate WHNS that she was walking back home when she spotted a clown waving at her.

“That’s why am over here, to make sure law enforcement is doing something because we’ve have about 2-300 children out here and I want to make sure that law enforcement is doing the right thing,” he said.

The clown sightings are not being taken lightly.

The apartment complex send out a flier warning residents, and the scare caused concern from community activist Bruce Wilson.

Clowns might sound silly, but it’s a situation parents are not finding funny. They want the clowns caught.

“Just be extremely careful,” said resident Teresa Robinson. “You have to dot all ‘I’s, cross all ‘T’s at all times in a situation like this, and be aware and be alert at all times.”
