WJBF News Channel 6 has learned a Richmond County jailer has resigned after being arrested this week for shoplifting several items from the Martinez Walmart store.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Stephanie Dodaro is accused of taking dozens of items without attempting to pay for them on Monday, May 4th.

A Walmart asset protection associate reported he observed a white female, later identified as Stephanie Dodaro, selecting numerous items in the Health and Beauty section. He reported he followed Dodaro as she went to the Housewares section and selected a storage tote box. He said she then observed Dodaro concealing the merchandise inside the storage tote.

Dodaro then reportedly proceeded to the self-checkout, where she rang up some groceries and the storage tote, but did not ring up the items inside the tote. Dodaro was stopped after she passed all of the checkout lanes and was escorted to the Loss Prevention office of the story.

The merchandise totaled $240.52 and all merchandise was recovered at the time of this incident.

The items she reportedly stole were listed as: hair pins, salon clips, dental floss picks, bun shapers, nasal decongestant, hair clips, deodorant, kids hair spray, female toiletry items, hand sanitizer, hair scissors, pens, nail files, skin oil, over the counter pain relievers, hair spray, lip balm, makeup, lozenges, tweezers, and thermometers. In all, she is accused of stealing a total of 90 items.

A warrant was issued for the offense of Shoplifting and Dodaro was taken to the Columbia County Detention Center for processing. The Shoplifting charge is a misdemeanor.

We have learned she posted bond and was released. We have also learned she has resigned from her position as a Richmond County jailer.
