Augusta’s EEO office has lost its Director as commissioners voting six to two to fire director Jacqueline Humphrey though. commissioners did not say why.
“It appears to be a necessary change in our government that we needed in that department in our government a variety of things right now I have to contract our legal department to make sure how much I can comment on this,” says Commissioner Dennis Williams,
“Why was she fired?”
“Well over a lack of satisfaction with her job we felt in many instances she wasn’t supporting the government,” said Commissioner Bill Lockett.
After voting to fire Humphrey commissioners voted to accept the resignation of HR director Tanika Bryant.
Back in January an anonymous letter accused Bryant of creating a hostile work environment in her office, this promoted a city investigation, the investigation was completed just last week but the administrator is not discussing it’s finding, but now Bryant has resigned.
“So Ms Bryant resigned after the investigation was completed but you not sharing the findings?”
We asked City Administrator Janice Jackson.
“That’s correct,” said Jackson.
But city leaders say Bryant wasn’t forced to resign.
“I think she did it on her own,” said Williams
“Was she forced out?
No, No., it was a surprise to me,” said Williams.
“She was getting a lot of undue influence from members of the governing body and others and anonymous letters so this isn’t something she decided to do in the last couple of months,” said Lockett.
